lickystickypickywe:

Our local animal rights groups are very active in protecting these huge ass turtles that come to nest on the beach.
This one was strolling on the beach looking for a spot to nest.
Once I was sitting with a group of friends at midnight on the beach, having drinks and talking when one of these monsters suddenly appeared. Completely in trance it started making a ditch for her to lay her eggs in. It was the most scary and magical thing I saw in my life.
After a week or I don’t remember how long we came back to the same spot, it was marked with barricades to protect the eggs, and we saw how hundreds and hundreds of those little turtles ran over the sand towards the water.
When you realize that not all of them will survive the journey but some of them will grow and live more than a hundred years you really wonder what this weird little planet is we live on, with its many miracles that happen, sometimes when you’re so unaware of it all.
