Was browsing through Formspring’s science tag, found this gem of knowledge. [In response to ‘would you wish on a shooting star?’.]

Edit: Maybe I can help the 500+ people who liked this answer realize that’s not the truth?

Just going to leave this screenshot here for you, tumblr. Brought to you by stupid people on my facebook dashboard.
I keep seeing people on facebook sharing this photo all over the place with comments like, ‘I’m not racist but…’, or ‘Not trying to be offensive, but it’s kinda true…’, and of course the ever popular ‘I’m really tired of all these Mexicans and/or immigrants getting in for free & stealing our American jobs..’.
Am I the only one who is just shaking their head at the broad generalizations and seemingly arrogant finger pointing? [Am I also the only one noticing people are growing increasingly dumber in an oddly proud manner?]
They’re so ridiculous, I’m just going to start posting them on here to get all of your reactions. Because I’m just sitting here, almost stunned by the things falling out of the mouths, on a daily basis, of people I come across and/or know.
For example, a guy said, commenting on how his male friends went to see the Hunger Games, and were surprisingly won over by it, that “They went gay for it.’”
I just kind of stopped typing, as this literally just happened, and yes, he really did say that, word for word. [May I point out, this is coming from an openly-admitted homophobic. Not a ‘normal’ homophobic, but one that goes out of his way to bash, and negatively comment on anything gay, and/or not in line with his ‘regular’ gender ideals.] His audience of other people laughed, and I resumed my typing, trying my hardest to bite my tongue.
How did getting a bit emotional, as a man, and actually liking a movie, and as an audience who has never read the book assumes, it will be like the Twilight Series, mean that you turned, or went gay for it?
Maybe my standards of what is socially acceptable to say is too old school, or what ever, but this is just the tip of the ice burg of things I have been hearing more and more in real life. Ironically enough, this escalates right after my friend and I discussed how it’s so amusing to see our generation on the internet and tumblr, constantly correcting people for things like this [homophobia], and fighting cultural appropriation, and in general trying to be decent human beings.
Edit: I’ll even make a tag for it under Personal People Observations. Amusing.
